I was asked to post this announcement for a tenure-track position at
Southwestern University. It is advertised as a position in French (and mostly

Assistant Professor French
Tenure Track
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Southwestern University
invites applications for a tenure-track position in French at the assistant
professor level to teach language, culture, and literature in a strong
undergraduate liberal arts curriculum. This position requires a record of
teaching excellence in French, experience developing multimedia materials in
French/German, and, secondarily, teaching ability in German. Candidates who
hold a Ph.D in Comparative Literature may also be considered. 3-3 teaching
load. Native/Near-native (ACTFL OESuperior$E2) in French. Ph.D. is required by
time of appointment (August 2003). Field open with preference for
French/peripheral studies. Please provide documentation of publication record
and/or potential. Position provides research/travel funding. Preference will
be given to candidates with documented experience teaching/advising in an
undergraduate interdisciplinary setting, interest in promoting academic study
abroad and other co-curricular programs, and some administrative competence,
including web-site development.
