Had some year firsts for me - rare sighting of one Jeff McQueen, up in Monroe where we saw several Ring-billed Gulls and three early male Green-winged Teal in their Spring finery. We checked the fields up on Plains Road for the resident Sandhill Cranes, knowing that we were likely too early. We were. Then I saw a FOY male Ring-necked Duck down by the MacIndoe Falls Dam. On the way home I stopped by Berway Farm in Lyme where I counted 7 Killdeer.
The bird of the day, however, was a Black-backed Woodpecker up at Trudeau Road in Bethlehem.
