Because the current forecast indicates that winds will be gusting over 30 miles per hour around dusk today (April 19), the Woodcock field trip scheduled for this evening in Hanover, NH, has been canceled. Birds are unlikely to be displaying under such windy conditions.

Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon and the Kendal Bird Club are still planning to hold a woodcock watch on Thursday evening (April 21), meeting at 7:15 PM by the reception area for Kendal at Hanover (80 Lyme Road, which is Route 10) and then carpooling to the observation site. The forecast for Thursday is favorable. We expect to return to Kendal before 9 PM.

Bring binoculars and dress for warmth in the early evening chill. Wear foot gear for possible soggy/wet conditions and be prepared to walk short distances over uneven but fairly level terrain. A flashlight can be helpful.
