This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, September 
16th, 2009.



A WHITE-EYED VIREO was reported from the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant 
on September 11th, and a NORTHERN SHOVELER and a PIED-BILLED GREBE were 
reported from here on September 14th. A PECTORAL SANDPIPER, a PIED-BILLED 
GREBE, and a RUDDY DUCK were seen here on the 11th, and a BUFF-BREASTED 
SANDPIPER was seen here on the 10th and 9th.



65 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, and a BLACK-LEGGED 
KITIWAKE were all reported from Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on September 
12th.



25 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were seen at Moore Fields on Route 155A/Mast Road in 
Durham on September 12th.



A YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON, and 3 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen 
from Island Path in Hampton on September 11th. A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON 
was seen in Lebanon on the 13th.



A GLOSSY IBIS, 4 SNOWY EGRETS, and a GREAT EGRET were reported from Chapman's 
Landing in Stratham on September 16th, and 13 GREAT EGRETS, 6 SNOWY EGRETS, 
10 LEAST SANDPIPERS, a PECTORAL SANDPIPER, and 5 GREATER YELLOWLEGS were 
seen here on the 14th.



A CONNECTICUT WARBLER and 2 BLACKPOLL WARBLERS were seen in the Meserve Road 
area, and a BAY-BREASTED WARBLER was seen on the UNH campus, all in Durham 
on September 16th.



2 PIED-BILLED GREBES were seen at Pickering Ponds in Rochester on September 
16th.



3 GREAT EGRETS were reported from the wetland visible on the south side of 
Route 393, and west of East Side Drive in Concord, several times during the 
past week.



5 BOREAL CHICKADEES were seen on Mount Washington on September 11th.



A few lingering RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS were reported during the past 
week.



HAWK migration is under way with 3,591 raptors already reported from the 
Pack Monadnock Raptor Migration Observatory in Peterborough since September 
1st. NH Audubon is again operating a second raptor observatory at Carter 
Hill Orchard in Concord. Be sure to visit both observatories to help out 
with the count!



PLEASE NOTE THE RAPTOR RELEASES that are scheduled for this weekend; 1:00 
p.m. Saturday, September 19th, Pack Monadnock, Peterborough. Release of a 
BROAD-WINGED HAWK; 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, Carter Hill, Concord, Release 
of a RED-TAILED HAWK.
