I took a short hike this afternoon on the new Upper Valley Land Trust Dismal Trail off Goose Pond Road in Hanover. Up the hill from the parking area the treetops on both sides of the trail seemed full of singing, singing palm warblers. On getting home, I saw a woodpecker on the tree by my clothesline. Yeah, yeah, we have had lots of hairies and downies all winter. But this one was a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker! A whole month earlier than usual. I will put a photo on eBird.

If you can, go for a walk. Like Ted Levin in his recent post, you might even hear the bupkis. Thanks Ted for a grin.

Norma, Goose Pond
