Friday at Storrs Pond a nearly adult bald eagle was seen by many sitting in a pine above the swimming area. Nice close look at head and plumage. After surveying the pond for close to an hour it flew down, talons extended, attempting to grab a fish, but changed its mind and flew up to another pine.
Interestingly, the eagle tolerated the swimmers and fishermen from its up close perch, perhaps keeping an eye on a possible free meal.
