Apologies for a late posting: last Thursday evening and Friday morning
featured a surprising level of vocal activity, both calling and singing,
by Bicknell's Thrush on the Mt. Mansfield ridgeline. Several of us from
VCE were mist-netting and banding on our long-term study site there. We
captured 10 Bicknell's, including a 10 year-old male that we had
originally banded as an immature in September of 2000. We netted 3
females and heard at least one group of fledglings. Several birds had
already begun their post-breeding flight feather molt. We also netted 10
Blackpoll Warblers, including several individuals in early stages of
