A short lunchtime birding trip to the Mascoma River, and I had the pleasure of observing my 1st Tree Swallows of the year, a flock of 20+ skimming over the river. As I was standing on the snow covered bank, I could not imagine what they may be feeding on. Also watched a Mink working the riverbank on the opposite side, slipping into the water every so often, but coming up empty while I was there.

Large flock of Redwing Blackbirds in silver maples
Robins feeding on sumac
Phoebes still active along riverbank
Red-tailed Hawk is still in area
Hooded Merganser (pair)
Field Sparrow along with Song Sparrows
