This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, June 10th, 
2009.



A RED PHALAROPE was seen in Littleton on June 8th, but has not been 
relocated.



A ROYAL: TERN was reported from Jenness Beach in Rye on June 10th.



A SOOTY SHEARWATER was seen on a cruise aboard the Granite State Whale Watch 
out of Rye on June 7th.



3 ROSEATE TERNS and 37 NORTHERN GANNETS were seen along the coast in the 
Hampton and Seabrook area on June 6th.



A SUMMER TANAGER was seen near Powdermill Pond in Hancock on June 6th.



A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was found on the Pease International Tradeport on 
June 5th. It was seen and heard from McIntyre Road in Newington. 4 
GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS were reported from Pease on the 6th.



An UPLAND SANDPIPER was seen at the Pease International Tradeport from Short 
Road in Newington on June 5th.



A LAWRENCE'S WARBLER was reported from Yudicky Farm/Southwest Park in Nashua 
on June 5th.



2 CHUKARS, a female and her chick, were seen at a private residence in North 
Conway on June 9th.



2 SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS, and 2 NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS were 
reported from Chapman's Landing in Stratham on June 5th.



A NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW was seen at the upper pavilion on Surry Lake 
on June 3rd.



4-5 BICKNELL'S THRUSHES were reported from the Mount Washington Auto Road on 
June 6th, 2 were reported from the south side of Mount Cushman in the 
Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest on June 7th, and 3 were reported from 
Cannon Mountain on June 5th.



A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen at Powderhouse Pond in Exeter on June 
9th.



3 PALM WARBLERS were seen at Church Pond Bog in Albany on June 7th.



4 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were seen in the Elbow Pond area in Woodstock on June 
7th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen on the Caps Ridge Trail off of Jefferson 
Notch Road on June 7th.



At Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson, a pair of BLACK-BACKED 
WOODPECKERS has been seen visiting a nest adjacent to Little Cherry Pond and 
visible from the viewing platform, and MOURNING WARBLERS have been reported 
from the Whipple Trail located on Whipple Road.



A SPRUCE GROUSE, 2 GRAY JAYS, 2 BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS, 2 BAY-BREASTED 
WARBLERS, and 2 WILSON'S WARBLERS were seen in the East Inlet area of 
Pittsburg on June 6th.



A pair of MERLINS that were reported from Concord earlier this spring have 
nested and hatched young, which they are now busily feeding.



3 pairs of CLIFF SWALLOWS were reported nesting on the back of the UNH field 
house in Durham on June 5th.



2 pairs of MISSISSIPPI KITES have been located in Newmarket near the same 2 
sites where they nested in 2008. For directions, check the May 27, 2009 Rare 
Bird Alert.



A SANDHILL CRANE has returned to Monroe, where it has spent the breeding 
season for the last 10+ years running. It spends most of the day among the 
cows on the left side of Plains Road in the first fields that you come to. 
Sometimes it is found on the Vermont side of the river. It has not been 
reported recently.
