This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, March 16th, 
2011.



A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen at Moore Fields along Route 155A in 
Durham on March 15h.



A male EURASIAN WIGEON and a EURASIAN (COMMON) TEAL were both seen at 
Chapman's Landing in Stratham on March 13th.



A male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was seen at Seal Rocks in Rye on March 12th.



A REDHEAD continues to be seen in Hampton in the area of Henry's Pool and 
the south side of Meadow Pond from Winnacunnet Road and was last reported on 
March 13th.



7 BRANT were seen in coastal Rye on March 13th, and one was seen in Hampton 
Harbor on the 12th.



2 RUDDY DUCKS were seen at Chapman's Landing in Stratham on March 14th.



A NORTHERN PINTAIL and a LESSER SCAUP were seen at the Exeter Wastewater 
Treatment Plant on March 12th, and a NORTHERN PINTAIL was seen in Walpole on 
March 13th.



A BLACK GUILLEMOT continues to be seen in Rye Harbor and was last reported 
on March 12th.



A GLAUCOUS GULL was seen in Hampton Harbor on March 10th.



An ICELAND GULL was seen on Eel Pond in Rye, and one was seen at the Exeter 
Wastewater Treatment Plant, both on March 10th.



14 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen in Rye on March 13th, and 2 were seen 
in Hancock on the 11th.



160 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were seen in Concord on March 10th, 24 were seen in 
Concord on the 12th, 49 were seen in Lyme on the 11th, and 35 were seen in 
Spofford on the 10th.



Over1,200 COMMON REDPOLLS were reported during the past week, including: 400 
in Hancock, 150 in New Durham, 150 in Chichester, 110 in Lyme, 100 in 
Webster, 100 in Weare, 100 in Etna, 60 in Canterbury, and 40 in Goffstown.



15 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen in New Durham on March 14th, and 5 were seen 
in Lyme on the 11th.



21 HORNED LARKS were seen in Boscawen on March 10th.



A FISH CROW was reported from Raymond on March 14th, and one was reported 
from Hampton on the 12th.



A RUSTY BLACKBIRD was seen in Pittsfield on March 12th.



An EASTERN SCREECH-OWL was reported from Merrimack on March 14th.



An EASTERN MEADOWLARK was seen in Walpole on March 13th.



2 FOX SPARROWS were seen in Durham on March 13th.



A HERMIT THRUSH was reported from Durham on March 13th.



There were several reports of raptors during the past week, including an 
unconfirmed report of a GYRFALCON in Bow, a pair of PEREGRINE FALCONS in 
Manchester, several sightings of AMERICAN KESTRELS and RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, 
and a NORTHERN HARRIER in Hampton.



Inland sightings of waterfowl are on the increase as the ice melts, 
including AMERICAN WIGEONS, WOOD DUCKS, HOODED MERGANSERS, COMMON 
MERGANSERS, RING-NECKED DUCKS, BUFFLEHEADS, COMMON GOLDENEYE, and 
GREEN-WINGED TEAL.



There were reports of GREAT BLUE HERONS, AMERICAN WOODCOCKS, KILLDEER, 
COMMON GRACKLES, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, EASTERN BLUEBIRDS, TURKEY VULTURES, 
CAROLINA WRENS, and RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS during the past week.
