While kayaking on Mink Brook in Hanover yesterday evening, we found a juvenile
Black-crowned Night-heron roosting low in a riparian bush. For some reason
birds don't feel as threatened by humans in canoes and kayaks as they do by
humans on foot, so we were able to spend some quality time close to the bird.

It seems unlikely that a juvenile night-heron should be alone, but we were
unable to see other roosting birds.
