Today under sunny skies about 30 participants joined in a hawk watch arranged by Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon at the Lebanon (NH) Municipal Airport. Raptors were the highlight among 16 bird species found: 35 Turkey Vultures, 3 Ospreys, an adult and an immature Bald Eagle, 2 Cooper's Hawks, 24 Broad-winged Hawks seen in 2 kettles, and 3 Red-tailed Hawks. Other birds included a flicker, a phoebe, at least 10 crows, 5 ravens, 7 Blue Jays, 8 chickadees, a White-breasted Nuthatch, 14 starlings, a Song Sparrow, and 5 goldfinches.
