On a fine May morning today, more than 30 participants joined in a
bird walk through the Crossroad Farm and Taylor Tract in the Post
Mills section of Thetford, VT, as arranged by the Thetford
Conservation Commission. Along with some colorful distractions by
flights of hot air balloons at the nearby airport, 39 bird species
were detected. Among the highlights were a Ruby-throated Hummingbird
male, a repeatedly singing Alder Flycatcher, a Veery, a Nashville
Warbler, a Savannah Sparrow, and 2 White-crowned Sparrows.
Special thanks to Connie Snyder, Tim and Janet Taylor, and Kathy
Thompson for assisting on this morning's walk.
