Had at least 1 RECR at Wilson’s on the 16th, then yesterday I saw 4 at the Post Pond Boat Launch, then two more on a driveway on the right heading out N. Thetford Road. Looks like we may see an irruption this year of RECR, and judging by the numbers of WWCR up east of Island Pond, VT, we may see an incursion of those as well. The Finch Forecast for 2023-24 that comes annually via the Finch Research Network should be posted toward the end of September.
If possible, use the Merlin App to record Red Crossbill calls, as there are 12 identifiable song types unique to specific areas of North America. The folks at Cornell can pinpoint which song type you have.
