This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Friday, February 23rd, 
2007.



An immature KING EIDER was seen at Bicentennial Park in Hampton on February 
17th.



An adult male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was seen with 25 male COMMON GOLDENEYES 
from Cedar Point in Royal's Cove in Dover on February 17th.



A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK and 2 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen near the Aubuchon's 
store in North Walpole on February 22nd. A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was reported 
from near the junction of Routes 12 and 63 in Westmoreland on February 17th.



A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen flying over Cross Beach Road in Seabrook on 
February 21st, and one was seen along Route 101 in Hampton near the Hampton 
wastewater treatment plant on February 17th.



A BLACK-HEADED GULL, and 2 ICELAND GULLS were seen at the Rochester Waste 
Water Treatment Plant on February 21st. The treatment plant is gated and the 
hours of operation are 7:30-3:00 on weekdays. If you visit, please check in 
at the office and be out of the plant by 2:45 so that plant personnel do not 
have to ask birders to leave. Do not drive on the dikes and do not block the 
road. The Trails at Pickering Ponds, located east of the plant, are not 
gated, and are always open during daylight hours.



An ICELAND GULL was seen in Hampton Harbor on February 21st.



5 RED CROSSBILLS and 40 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen on Chickwolnepy Road in 
Milan on February 17th. Good numbers of WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS continued to 
be reported from the White Mountains area and Great North Woods during the 
past week.



2 GRAY JAYS were seen across the road from the Lake Umbagog National 
Wildlife Refuge headquarters on Route 16 in Wentworth Location, and 2 BOREAL 
CHICKADEES were seen on Long Pond Road in Errol, all on February 17th.



An AMERICAN COOT, a WOOD DUCK, a RING-NECKED DUCK, 80 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 45 
HOODED MERGANSERS, 20 COMMON MERGANSERS, 80 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 60 
MALLARDS and over 1,000 CANADA GEESE were all seen at Lake Wantastiquet and 
in the river bends below the Connecticut River dam in Hinsdale on February 
17th.



A LAPLAND LONGSPUR, 100 SNOW BUNTINGS, 100 HORNED LARKS, and a male NORTHERN 
HARRIER were seen in a field along Route 63 a short distance south of Route 
12 in Westmoreland on February 17th.



2 AMERICAN PIPITS, 30 HORNED LARKS, and 15 SNOW BUNTINGS were seen foraging 
along River Road near Halls Crossing Road (Boggy Meadows) in Walpole on 
February 18th.



A flock of over 40 SNOW BUNTINGS was seen flying over Route 10 in 
Winchester, near the Massachusetts state line on February 20th.



45 HORNED LARKS were seen at Morrill's Farm in Penacook, and 40 SNOW 
BUNTINGS were seen along Clinton Street in Concord, all on February 17th.



12 HORNED LARKS were seen at Hampton Beach State Park on February 17th.



 A BROWN THRASHER was seen at Horseshoe Pond in Concord on February 17th.



A WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW was seen in New Castle on February 17th, and a FOX 
SPARROW was reported from Thornton on February 19th.



A FISH CROW was reported from Newmarket on February 22nd.



10 TURKEY VULTURES were seen in Newmarket, and one was seen in Concord, all 
on February 21st



A RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET was seen in Rochester, and a NORTHERN FLICKER was 
seen in Danville, both on February 18th.



A HERMIT THRUSH was seen at the Pease Tradeport in Newington, and one was 
seen in Durham, both on February 17th.



Scattered sightings of RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS, CAROLINA WRENS, and EASTERN 
BLUEBIRDS continued to be reported during the past week.



There have been a number of BALD EAGLE sightings from open-water areas 
located throughout the state during the past week.
