This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, May 29th, 2017.



2 MISSISSIPPI KITES were seen near the Great Bay Discovery Center in 
Greenland on May 28th, and at least 2 more were seen in Newmarket several 
times during the last week.



An immature male KING EIDER was seen off of Pulpit Rocks in Rye on May 13th. 
It was later seen at several nearby locations, and was last reported from 
Seal Rocks in Rye on the 25th.



A THICK-BILLED MURRE was seen at the entrance to Rye Harbor, and a RAZORBILL 
was seen off the coast of Rye, both on May 27th.



A LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER was seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on May 
28th, an UPLAND SANDPIPER was seen at the Pease International Tradeport on 
May 23rd, and 7 LEAST SANDPIPERS were seen in Orford on May 26th.



3 LEAST TERNS, 5 ROSEATE TERNS, and a PIPING PLOVER were seen at Seabrook 
Beach on May 28th, and 3 ROSEATE TERNS and a LAUGHING GULL were seen in New 
Castle on May 27th.



A BLACK GUILLEMOT and a LAUGHING GULL were seen in Rye Harbor on May 29th.



A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was reported from Dover, and 1 was seen in 
Hampton, both on May 27th.



3 SALTMARSH SPARROWS and 3 FISH CROWS were reported from Hampton Marsh on 
May 28th.



Up to 6 FISH CROWS were seen in Hinsdale during the past week.



2 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS were reported from Hinsdale on May 27th, and again on 
the 28th, 2 were seen at the Cemetery Fields in Amherst on the 28th, and 4 
were reported from the Concord Airport on the 24th.



A GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH was reported from Hampton on May 28th, and there were 
reports of BICKNELL’S THRUSHES on territory in the White Mountains during 
the past week.



A MOURNING WARBLER was reported from Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in 
Jefferson on May 27th.



More than 12 PURPLE MARTINS were seen in Seabrook on May 27th.



A flock of 30 migrating COMMON NIGHTHAWKS was reported from Swanzey on May 
24th, and there were several sightings of 1-3 birds during the past week.



83 CHIMNEY SWIFTS were seen going to roost in a chimney in Orford on May 
27th.



A pair of MERLINS was seen from Borough Road in Penacook on May 28th.



ORCHARD ORIOLES were reported from Dover, Merrimack, and Nashua, and 
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS were reported from Dover, Rochester, and Concord, all 
during the past week.



A pair of BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS was seen on the Little Cherry Pond trail 
at the Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on May 24th.
