This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Tuesday, June 2nd,
2015. 

A WILSON'S PHALAROPE was seen in coastal Rye on May 28th.

A COMMON GALLINULE was reported from Durham on May 25th.

A ROYAL TERN was seen near White and Seavey Islands, part of the Isles of
Shoals, on May 29th. The TERN breeding colony there now numbers 4,500
COMMON TERNS, 70 ROSEATE TERNS, and several ARCTIC TERNS.

2 LEAST TERNS and a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER were seen in Hampton on May
29th. The LEAST TERNS were still present on the 31st.

Avian highlights from a pelagic birding trip to New Hampshire and Maine
waters on May 25th included: 8 NORTHERN FULMARS, 2 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 30
NORTHERN GANNETS, 2 RUDDY TURNSTONES, 235 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES, 2 BLACK
GUILLEMOTS, 2 RAZORBILLS, many COMMON TERNS, a MAGNOLIA WARBLER, 8 GLOSSY
IBIS, and 12 PURPLE SANDPIPERS. The trip was sponsored by New Hampshire
Audubon and was open to the public - don't miss the next trip - inquire for
more information. Proceeds support NH Audubon.

5 LAUGHING GULLS were seen on Eel Pond in Rye on May 31st.

4 UPLAND SANDPIPERS were seen at the Pease International Tradeport in
Newington on May 29th.

2 MISSISSIPPI KITES were seen flying near Gonet Road in Newmarket on May
25th.

A LAWRENCE'S WARBLER, a hybrid between a BLUE-WINGED WARBLER and
GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER, was seen in Newmarket on May 29th.

A MOURNING WARBLER was reported from Newbury on June 2nd.

A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was seen at Pease International Tradeport on May 29th.

14 PURPLE MARTINS were seen near Cross Beach Road in Rye on May 31st, and 2
were seen in Wakefield on May 25th.

A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from Hollis on May 26th.

A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO and a GREAT EGRET were seen at NH Audubon's
Brookside Sanctuary in South Hampton on May 29th.

2 YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS and 2 ORCHARD ORIOLES were reported from the Nature
Conservancy's Lubberland Creek Preserve in Newmarket on May 29th.

An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was seen near Mountain Pond off of Slippery Brook
Road in Bartlett on May 29th.

4 BICKNELL'S THRUSHES, a BOREAL CHICKADEE, 10 BLACKPOLL WARBLERS, 3
YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHERS, and 2 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS were reported from
near the summit of Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch on May 30th.

2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS were seen in Nashua on May 25th.

A LONG-TAILED DUCK was reported flying over Ashland on May 25th.

57 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were seen at Great East Lake in Wakefield on May
23rd, and 3 were seen on the Connecticut River in Hanover on May 26th.
