Had a female Merlin at the house on Saturday afternoon. She made a few "falcon passes" chasing doves from perch to perch thru the yard then perched over the feeders. In wide open view were 4-5 frozen doves and a downy woodpecker which she was unable to detect without motion. Freezing seemed to do the trick. As soon as one blinked she was on the chase. What a nice bird.
