This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Friday, March 16th, 
2007.



An EARED GREBE was seen off of Pulpit Rocks in Rye on March 14th.



2 RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS were reported from Route 31 North in Hillsborough, 
north of the Pine Hill Cemetery, on March 10th.



A BLACK-HEADED GULL and an ICELAND GULL were seen at the Rochester Waste 
Water Treatment Plant on March 14th. The treatment plant is gated and the 
hours of operation are 7:30-3:00 on weekdays. If you visit, please check in 
at the office and be out of the plant by 2:45 so that plant personnel do not 
have to ask birders to leave. Do not drive on the dikes and do not block the 
road. The Trails at Pickering Ponds, located east of the plant, are not 
gated, and are always open during daylight hours.



A male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was seen on the Merrimack River, from Stark 
Landing, on March 15th.



A female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was seen off of Foss Beach in Rye on March 11th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on Martin Road in Fremont, next to the cemetery, 
on March 14th.



A single "COMMON TEAL", which is the Eurasian race of the GREEN-WINGED TEAL 
was seen, along with 12 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 7 AMERICAN WIGEON, and many 
AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, MALLARDS, and CANADA GEESE, as well as a NORTHERN 
HARRIER at the Bodwell Farm fields on Route 108, opposite Sanborn Road, in 
East Kingston, all on March 15th.



5 NORTHERN PINTAIL were seen near the dam on the Connecticut River in 
Hinsdale on March 14th, and an AMERICAN COOT, 3 BUFFLEHEADS, 15 RING-NECKED 
DUCKS, 10 WOOD DUCKS, 50 HOODED MERGANSERS, 20 COMMON MERGANSERS, 120 COMMON 
GOLDENEYE, 150 MALLARDS, 60 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 500 CANADA GEESE, and an 
adult BALD EAGLE were seen here on March 10th.



125 RING-NECKED DUCKS were seen on Powwow Pond in Kingston on March 14th.



A RED CROSSBILL, 135 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, 3 SNOW BUNTINGS, 572 PURPLE 
FINCHES, 510 PINE SISKINS, 3 GRAY JAYS, and 11 BOREAL CHICKADEES were 
reported from Pittsburg on March 13th.



2 RED CROSSBILLS, 9 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, a BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, and 
2 EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported from Pondicherry Wildlife Sanctuary in 
Jefferson on March 12th.



A flock of 8 EVENING GROSBEAKS was seen in Jefferson on March 14th, and 2 
were reported from North Conway on the 13th.



2 LAPLAND LONGSPURS and a SNOW BUNTING were seen at Horseshoe Pond in 
Concord on March 14th.



50 HORNED LARKS were seen on River Road in Westmoreland on March 10th.



4 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were seen at the fields behind the Post Office on Loudon 
Road in Concord on March 14th.



7 FOX SPARROWS were seen in Durham on March 16th, and one was seen in Newton 
on March 14th.



An EASTERN SCREECH OWL was heard in Hampstead on March 15th, and one was 
reported from Bedford on the 14th.



FISH CROWS were reported from Manchester, Londonderry, Merrimack, Hampton, 
and Durham during the past week.



6 WILSON'S SNIPE, and an EASTERN MEADOWLARK were seen in Epping on March 
14th.



A GREAT EGRET was seen in Rye Harbor, and 4 AMERICAN WIGEON were seen in a 
nearby tidal creek, all on March 11th.



A GREATER YELLOWLEGS was reported from Durham on March 15th.



A TREE SWALLOW was seen at the Exeter Waste Water Treatment Plant on March 
14th.



EASTERN PHOEBES were reported from Brentwood and Exeter during the past 
week.



There have been a number of BALD EAGLE sightings from open-water areas 
located throughout the state during the past week.



Several RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS, and PEREGRINE FALCONS were reported during the 
past week. A NORTHERN HARRIER was seen at Warren Farm in Barrington on March 
11th.



TURKEY VULTURES were reported from numerous locations across the state 
during the past week.



Scattered sightings of AMERICAN WOODCOCK, KILLDEER, RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS, 
COMMON GRACKLES, RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS, CAROLINA WRENS, and EASTERN 
BLUEBIRDS were reported during the past week.
