Friday in the drizzle from the river bank adjacent to the access road behind Home Depot, Best Buy and others. 80 mallards counted and probably at least 20 others on and between a small island off the near shore at the south end of Home Depot. In the same area, but seen from afar, there were 3 mergansers (probable). No ducks at the north end of Johnson Island. On the VT side, one adult bald eagle. Also, vocalizations of a very large number of crows coming from the VT side, with modest numbers (50-60) seen behind the stores in trees and looking for food on the ground.
