This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, December 26th,
2022. 

A WESTERN TANAGER was found foraging on fruiting trees, shrubs, and vines
along Ocean Road, west of Route 33, in Greenland on December 17th and has
continued to be seen there during the past week. It was last reported on
the 26th.

A MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD was found associating with a flock of about 25 EASTERN
BLUEBIRDS in a wetland thicket adjacent to a field along the Furber Strait
Trail at Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Newington on December 22nd.

A VARIED THRUSH was seen in Pittsburg on December 19th and 20th.
 
A female RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD has been seen visiting a birdfeeder at a
private residence in Newmarket since November and was last reported on
December 26th.

A SNOWY OWL was seen in Seabrook Marsh on December 21st.

3 DOVEKIES were reported from Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on December
26th, and 1 was reported from coastal Portsmouth on the 23rd.

A PINK-FOOTED GOOSE was seen with a flock of CANADA GEESE in fields of
cornfield stubble along Route 155A in Durham from December 20th to 23rd.
Presumably the same bird was relocated on Great Bay and seen from The
Discovery Center in Greenland on the 26th. A spotting scope was needed to
see the bird well in its current location.

A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was found with a flock of CANADA GEESE on a
lawn adjacent to a Wendy’s Restaurant at 1465 Woodbury Avenue in Portsmouth
on December 16th and continued to be seen there during the past week. It
was last reported on the 25th.

A SNOW GOOSE was seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on December 25th.

A flock of 8 REDHEADS was seen from Osprey Cove in Great Bay in Greenland
on December 25th, and a pair was seen at Spofford Lake in Chesterfield on
the 26th. 

A male BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was seen at the south end of Opechee Bay in
Laconia on December 24th. 

A pair of GADWALL was seen from Hilton Park in Dover on December 25th.

3 BLACK VULTURES were seen at Colcord Pond in Exeter on December 25th.

2 NORTHERN SHRIKES were seen in Fitzwilliam on December 22nd.

2 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen in Colebrook on December 25th.

A flock of 55 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen in Orford on December 22nd.

6 PINE GROSBEAKS was seen at Upper Baker Pond in Orford on December 25th.

A flock of 50 EVENING GROSBEAKS was seen in Jefferson on December 24th, a
flock of 20 was seen in Enfield on the 24th, a flock of 15 were seen in
Etna on the 24th, 4 were seen in Bradford on the 21st, and 1 was reported
from Dover on the 19th.

A RED CROSSBILL was reported from Hollis, and 1 was reported from Pembroke,
both during the past week.

An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at the Hampton Wastewater Treatment
Plant on December 22nd.

A GREAT EGRET was seen in Seabrook Marsh on December 22nd.

An AMERICAN BITTERN was seen in Hampton Marsh on December 21st.

An EASTERN MEADOWLARK was seen in Hampton Marsh on December 25th.

Several YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKERS were reported from multiple locations
during the past week.

A HERMIT THRUSH was reported from Pembroke on December 21st.

A GRAY CATBIRD was seen in Center Barnstead on December 25th, and 1 was
seen in Hollis on the 26th.

An estimated 100 FISH CROWS were seen flying south in Salem on December
21st.

A CHIPPING SPARROW was seen in Conway on December 25th, and 1 was seen in
Rochester on the 24th.
 
2 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were seen in Bath on December 22nd.

A CAROLINA WREN was reported from Gorham on December 22nd.

A BARN SWALLOW continued to be seen in Rochester and was last reported on
December 22nd.

A WILSON’S SNIPE was seen in Hollis on December 24th.

A NORTHERN GOSHAWK was seen at Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge in
Newington on December 22nd, and 1 was seen in Bradford on the 25th.
