This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, November 16th,
2015.
A CAVE SWALLOW was seen along the coast at North Hampton State Beach on
November 15th.
A LARK SPARROW was seen at Greeley Park in Nashua on November 9th, 10th, and
11th.
A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen at Pack Monadnock in Peterborough on November 10th.
At least 1 FRANKLIN’S GULL was seen at Great Bay from the Greenland side on
November 14th.
An ICELAND GULL was seen in the Rye Harbor area on November 12th.
2 NORTHERN FULMARS, 4 GREAT SHEARWATERS, 5 NORTHERN GANNETS, and 3
RAZORBILLS were seen along the coast from Seabrook Beach on November 10th.
A EURASIAN WIGEON, 3 REDHEADS, a GADWALL, a NORTHERN PINTAIL, 5 SURF
SCOTERS, and 5 HORNED GREBES were all seen on Great Bay from the Greenland
side on November 12th.
A male BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was reported from the Merrimack River in
Manchester on November 14th.
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at Airport Marsh in Whitefield on November 13th.
A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was seen at Moore Fields along Route 155A in Durham on
November 15th, and 2 were seen on the coast on the 14th.
2 RED CROSSBILLS were reported from the Caps Ridge trailhead in Jefferson
Notch on November 11th.
19 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were seen at the viewing platform at Cherry Pond in
Jefferson on November 15th.
10 PURPLE SANDPIPERS were reported from the coast on November 14th.
A lone BRANT was seen on the coast in North Hampton on November 16th.
An AMERICAN COOT, and a BALTIMORE ORIOLE were seen at the Exeter Wastewater
Treatment Plant on November 14th.
16 RUDDY DUCKS were seen on Willand Pond in Dover on November 13th, and 20
were seen on Beaver Lake in Derry on the 15th.
A HORNED GREBE and a RED-NECKED GREBE were both seen on Lake Sunapee on
November 10th.
7 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, 2 GREATER SCAUP, and a RED-BREASTED MERGANSER were
seen on the Connecticut River in Hinsdale on November 12th.
7 BLACK SCOTERS were seen on Cherry Pond in Jefferson on November 14th, and
a BLACK SCOTER was seen on the Connecticut River in Hanover on the 12th.
4 LONG-TAILED DUCKS were seen at Post Pond in Lyme on November 11th, and 2
were seen on the Connecticut River above the Wilder Dam on the 12th.
2 LESSER SCAUP were seen on Dodge Pond in Lyman on November 16th.
A NASHVILLE WARBLER was seen in Ashland on November 10th, and 1 was seen at
Greeley Park in Nashua on the 11th.
An AMERICAN WOODCOCK was reported from Barnstead on November 14th.
An EASTERN TOWHEE was reported from Barnstead on November 12th.
A SPRUCE GROUSE, a BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER, and 6 BOREAL CHICKADEES were
seen in the Ethan Pond area in Bethlehem on November 10th.
There were scattered reports of AMERICAN PIPITS, FOX SPARROWS, HERMIT
THRUSHES, HORNED LARKS, SNOW BUNTINGS, and RUSTY BLACKBIRDS during the past
week.
A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen at the Brady-Sullivan building in Manchester on
November 14th.
RAPTOR migration has slowed, and the daily counting has officially come to
an end at the Pack Monadnock Raptor Migration Observatory in Peterborough,
and at the Carter Hill Observatory in Concord. Pack Monadnock tallied more
than 19,539 raptors since September 1st, and Carter Hill counted over 8,820
raptors since September 1st.
