Numerous birds were in the Norwich nature area this morning (May 19).

Under what were at times somewhat wet conditions for observation, Jim Block and
I found a good variety of species including those listed below. (Species marked
with * are believed to occur only as migrants in the vicinity of the nature
area.)

Empidonax species (probably Least Flycatcher)*
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Brown Creeper
House Wren
Ruby-crowned Kinglet*
Veery
Wood Thrush
Gray Catbird
Tennessee Warbler*
Nashville Warbler*
Yellow Warbler
Chestnut-sided Warbler
Magnolia Warbler*
Black-throated Blue Warbler*
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Blackburnian Warbler
Pine Warbler
Bay-breasted Warbler*
American Redstart
Ovenbird
Northern Waterthrush*
Common Yellowthroat
Wilson's Warbler*
Canada Warbler*
Indigo Bunting
Baltimore Oriole

Today was the fifth consecutive day with relatively numerous migrant birds here
in the village area of Norwich. The species present have differed somewhat from
place to place around the village and from day to day. This series of days has
provided some of the best May migrant viewing I've seen here.
