This is New Hampshire Audubon’s Rare Bird Alert for Tuesday, December 11th, 
2012.



A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was found at the in Liberty Mutual- Portsmouth 
Hospital duck pond on Borthwick Avenue in Portsmouth on December 9th, and 
seen there again on the 11th.



A CACKLING GOOSE was seen at Turtle Pond in Concord on December 6th, and was 
reported again on the 7th and 9th, and a CACKLING GOOSE was seen in the 
Suncook River in Pittsfield between the Route 107 bridge and River Road on 
December 11th.



A male EURASIAN WIGEON was seen at the southeast side of Great Bay in 
Greenland on December 9th.



An ICELAND GULL was seen in Manchester on December 9th.



2 RAZORBILLS were seen off of Seabrook Beach on December 8th.



A RED CROSSBILL was reported from Durham on December 10th, and 15 
WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen in the trees and on the ground of the 
Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests parking lot in Concord 
on December 11th.



A LAPLAND LONGSPUR, 10 SNOW BUNTINGS, and 350 HORNED LARKS were seen at the 
Nashua Airport on December 9th.



PINE GROSBEAK sightings during the past week included 25 near Horseshoe Pond 
in Concord on December 11th, 10 in Epping on the 10th, and 5 in Durham on 
the 8th.



14 COMMON REDPOLLS were seen in Lyme on December 6th, and 2 were reported 
from Surry on the 9th.



A BRANT was seen on Great Bay from the Great Bay Discovery Center in 
Greenland on December 9th. Also seen were a PIED-BILLED GREBE, 25 RUDDY 
DUCKS, a BLACK SCOTER, and 2 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS.



A male GADWALL was seen on the Connecticut River near Hanover on December 
10th.



10 RUDDY DUCKS were seen at Wash Pond in Hampstead on December 8th.



47 HOODED MERGANSERS were seen at Turtle Pond in Concord on December 11th.



40 LESSER SCAUP, a GREATER SCAUP, 3 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 5 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 
6 HOODED MERGANSERS, and a COMMON MERGANSER were seen on Eel Pond in Rye on 
December 8th.



A NORTHERN PINTAIL was seen on South Mill Pond in Portsmouth on December 
8th.



140 LESSER SCAUP and 5 RUDDY DUCKS were all seen at the Exeter Wastewater 
Treatment Plant on December 6th.



A GREAT CORMORANT was seen on Northwood Lake on December 5th.



A late-migrating AMERICAN WOODCOCK was seen in Hancock on December 9th.



2 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were seen in Portsmouth on December 9th.



An AMERICAN KESTREL was seen in Tamworth on December 6th.



A RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD and a BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD were seen in Durham, and a 
RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD was seen in Pittsfield, all on December 8th.
