This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, May 29th, 2023. 

Birders on a fishing boat trip to Old Scantum on May 23rd, reported 2 RED
PHALAROPES, 2 NORTHERN FULMARS, and 175 WILSON’S STORM-PETRELS.

Up to 3 AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHERS were seen at the Isles of Shoals and along
the coast during the past week.

A female KING EIDER continues to be seen, usually from the second pullout
just south of Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, and it was last reported on
May 26th.

2 MISSISSIPPPI KITES were reported from Newmarket and 2 were reported from
Stratham, all during the past week.

2 BLACK VULTURES were seen at Pawtuckaway State Park on May 29th, 1 was
seen in Epping on the 29th, 1 was seen in Hooksett on the 24th, and 1 was
seen in Walpole on the 23rd.

A LITTLE BLUE HERON was seen at Pickering Ponds in Rochester, and 1 was
seen at the salt marsh pools located just west of Route 1A and south of
Odiorne Point State Park in Rye, both on May 23rd.

A LEAST BITTERN was reported from the Old Mill Road Mitigation Area in Lee
on May 28th, 1 was reported from the Rockingham Recreational Trail on the
29th, 1 was reported from Great Meadow in Hollis on the 27th, and 1 was
reported from the Community Campus in Portsmouth on the 23rd. 

A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was reported from the Concord Airport on May 23rd,
and 1 was reported from Arboretum Drive in Newington on the 26th.

A territorial GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER was seen along East Weare Road in Weare
on the Everett Dam Conservation Lands on May 14th and was most recently
reported on the 23rd. It was in an overgrown field near some old
Jersey-barriers approximately 1-mile west of the intersection of East Weare
Road and South Sugar Hill Road. The bird was singing a song similar to a
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER type song. 

2 RED CROSSBILLS were reported from Mountain Road in Lempster on May 29th,
2 were reported from Hancock on the 28th, and 3 were reported from Mount
Monadnock on the 25th.

A pair of unconfirmed TUNDRA SWANS was seen in-flight near Odiorne Point
State Park in Rye on May 24th.
