This is the Vermont Rare Bird Alert for June 9, 2008 covering the period
June 2 - June 8, 2008.  

 

A GREAT EGRET was seen at Brattleboro Retreat Meadows on 6/6 and at Dead
Creek WMA on 6/7.

 

A DUNLIN was spotted at Kent Pond on 6/4.

 

Two YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOOS were sighted in Rutland on 6/5.

 

Seven COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen in Shelburne on 6/2.  Two WHIP-POOR-WILLS
were observed in Brandon on 6/8.

 

Two RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS were sighted in Rutland on 6/2.

 

A BLUE-WINGED WARBLER was seen in Saxton's River on 6/2.  The male CERULEAN
WARBLER at Wilmarth Woods on Snake Mt. was sighted as recently as 6/8 (3/4
way up the 1st trail to the summit of Snake Mountain) and a second sighting
of a CERULEAN WARBLER near Snake Mountain occurred in Bridport.  One is also
being seen regularly in St. George.

 

There was an unconfirmed report of an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW at the
unprecedented late date of 6/7 at Lake Pauline.
