Otto here,
Spotted the caracara in an elder tree at south edge of field between rt12 and Barnard Brook. By the time I turned around and parked, it was gone. There was another group of birders there at the same time who had the same experience. I left after 20 minutes, they were still looking.

The bird was very obvious with a white neck and the orange/red of the bill easily seen by eye while driving.

This was around 9:30.

Good Luck and be careful (limited shoulder on busy road). Big parking lot a little ways north on Rt 12.

Otto
