This report is 2 days late, but Kent McFarland, Juan Klavins and I 
spent Monday night and Tuesday morning on the Mt. Mansfield 
ridgeline, finishing up summer field work.  A far cry from a month 
ago, as vocal activity is very low.  Mist-netting was also slow, with 
only 10 total captures.  Among these were some non-local species, 
including an adult Veery and male Black-throated Blue Warbler.  No 
Bicknell's thrushes, and the dusk-dawn choruses were very muted.  Our 
highlight was capturing a juvenile No. Saw-whet Owl at dusk.  We had 
a couple of flocks of White-winged Crossbills overhead (one with 8-10 
birds) and a single Pine Siskin.

Amazing how quickly things quiet down....
