Remember those hand buzzers from the 50s?? That is what the American Woodcock sounds like to me. We have just moved from the farm house to an area with a lot of brush and beech saplings. Every night for the past week, I here this sound till bedtime. I haven’t seen it display yet.
I would like to extend an invitation to you all to come bird here at Crossroad Farm and the Taylor Preserve this spring. Both are “E Bird Hotspots”. Please park in the stand parking lot. Check out the bird feeders at the farm house and then just start walking past the greenhouses. I have attached a map. Yellow marks parking.
Killdeers, Bluebirds, and Song Sparrows are the notable returns this past week.
