This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, February 18th, 
2019.



A BLACK VULTURE was seen in Westmoreland on February 17th.



A PEREGRINE FALCON and a NORTHERN GOSHAWK were seen in Lebanon during the 
past week.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen in Newport on February 16th, and 1 was seen in 
Center Sandwich on the 18th.



There was an unconfirmed report of a SNOWY OWL in Spofford during the past 
week.



2 EASTERN SCREECH-OWLS were heard vocalizing in Exeter on February 17th.



A GLAUCOUS GULL continues to be seen at Hampton Harbor and was last reported 
on February 17th. A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen in Hampton on February 
16th, and a BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was seen off the coast in Rye on the 
17th. An ICELAND GULL was seen in Hampton on February 16th, and 1 was seen 
in Exeter on the 17th.



A THICK-BILLED MURRE, a DOVEKIE, several RAZORBILLS, and several BLACK 
GUILLEMOTS were all seen along the coast on February 16th and 17th.



A RAZORBILL and a RED-THROATED LOON were seen in Great Bay from Adam’s Point 
in Durham on February 17th.



A SNOW GOOSE was seen in Greenland on February 16th, 1 was seen in Durham on 
the 14th, and 1 was seen in Portsmouth on the 11th. These sightings are with 
flocks of CANADA GEESE.



A HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen off of Pulpit Rocks in Rye on February 15th.



A male BARROW'S GOLDENEYE continues to be seen on the Androscoggin River in 
Errol, and was last reported on February 12th, a male was seen near Stark 
Landing on the Merrimack River in Manchester on the 17th, and a female was 
seen off of the coast in Rye on the 17th. A WOOD DUCK was seen in Kingston 
on February 16th.



There were a few PURPLE SANDPIPERS, and GREAT CORMORANTS reported from the 
coast during the past week.



A flock of 10 PINE GROSBEAKS was seen in Walpole on February 12th. A few 
flocks of EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported from scattered locations during 
the past week, including a flock of 35 in Jefferson.

A flock of 50 COMMON REDPOLLS was seen in Rye on February 15th, a flock of 
42 was seen in Enfield on the 15th, a flock of 41 was seen in Jefferson on 
the 12th, a flock of 28 was seen in Keene on the 13th, and there were small 
numbers reported from scattered locations during the past week.



99 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were reported from Gorham on February 15th, and a mixed 
flock of 150 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS and CEDAR WAXWINGS was seen in Hanover on the 
12th.



A flock of 30 SNOW BUNTINGS was seen at Hampton Beach State Park on February 
16th, a flock of 25 was seen in Walpole on the 15th, and a flock of 25 was 
seen in Pike on February 14th.



A YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER was seen again in East Kingston on February 16th.



3 FISH CROWS were reported from Kingston on February 17th.



A KILLDEER was seen in Exeter on February 16th.



A male BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was seen near Mud Pond in Jefferson on 
February 12th.



Lingering migrant species reported during the past week included: RED-WINGED 
BLACKBIRD, RUSTY BLACKBIRD, COMMON GRACKLE, BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD, WINTER 
WREN, HERMIT THRUSH, TURKEY VULTURE, RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, NORTHERN FLICKER, 
SAVANNAH SPARROW, SWAMP SPARROW, FOX SPARROW, and WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW.
