This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, August 3rd, 
2011.



A MARBLED GODWIT, and an ICELAND GULL were seen in Hampton Harbor on July 
31st. The MARBLED GODWIT was still present on August 1st.



2 CORY'S SHEARWATERS, 2 GREAT SHEARWATERS, 131 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS, and 
48 NORTHERN GANNETS were reported by a birder on a Granite State Whale Watch 
cruise out of Rye Harbor on August 2nd.



3 PIPING PLOVERS were seen on Seabrook Beach, and 12 ROSEATE TERNS were seen 
in Hampton Harbor, all on July 31st.



A PECTORAL SANDPIPER, and 15 LESSER YELLOWLEGS were seen in Rye Marshes on 
July 30th.



A WHIMBREL, 3 RUDDY TURNSTONES, 30 SANDERLINGS, and 450 SEMIPALMATED 
SANDPIPERS were seen in Hampton Harbor on July 31st.



46 SNOWY EGRETS were tallied along the coast on July 30th, and 24 GREAT 
EGRETS were seen in Hampton Marsh on July 31st.



2 GREAT EGRETS, 8 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 10 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 4 SEMIPALMATED 
SANDPIPERS, and a COMMON TERN were reported from Powdermill Pond in Hancock 
on July 29th.



A GREAT EGRET was seen in Turkey Pond in Concord on July 31st.



A GREATER YELLOWLEGS was seen at Lake Sunapee on July 30th.



10 LEAST SANDPIPERS and 5 EASTERN TOWEES were seen at NH Audubon's Ponemah 
Bog Sanctuary in Amherst on July 29th.



A RED CROSSBILL was reported from Robb Reservoir in Antrim on August 2nd.



Two PEREGRINE FALCONS were seen on the Hampton Water Tower on July 31st, and 
2 PEREGRINE FALCONS and a MERLIN were seen in Nashua on August 3rd.



A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was heard in Marlborough on August 2nd. A 
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was heard in Rochester on July 28th, and one was heard 
in Lyme on July 30th.



7 BANK SWALLOWS were seen along the Merrimack River in Penacook on July 
30th.



A WHIP-POOR-WILL was heard in Center Ossipee on August 1st, and one was 
heard in Marlborough on August 2nd.



2 NELSON'S SPARROWS, and 2 SALTMARSH SPARROWS were reported from Rye on July 
31st.



A pair of BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS was reported from Newmarket on July 27th.



2 young GRAY JAYS and a female BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER were seen near Little 
Cherry Pond in the Pondicherry National Wildlife Refuge in Jefferson on July 
28th.



A SANDHILL CRANE has been present in a meadow located between McNiel and 
Union Hill Roads on Harbor Road in Fryeburg, Maine, close to New Hampshire, 
since July 9th, and was last reported on the 30th, just south of Old River 
Road.



A RINGED TURTLE-DOVE, a species not native to North America, and probably 
escaped from captivity, was reported from Nashua on August 2nd.
