On a beautiful sunny morning today about two dozen participants joined  
in a bird walk of the Thetford Conservation Commission on the  
conserved 37 acre Taylor Tract and the adjacent Cross Road Farm in the  
Post Mills section of Thetford, VT. Close-up views were enjoyed of a  
number of bird species including 1) a Killdeer sitting on a nest with  
its mate nearby, 2) a male Ruby-throated Hummingbird, 3) an Eastern  
Kingbird, 2) a Chestnut-sided Warbler, 3) a few American Redstarts, 4)  
Common Yellowthroats, and 5) a brightly colored male Indigo Bunting.  
Others among a total of 42 bird species encountered were a Broad- 
winged Hawk, a repeatedly calling Alder Flycatcher, a few Veerys, 4  
Cedar Waxwings, singing Savannah and White-throated Sparrows, a  
singing Purple Finch, and an Evening Grosbeak.
