great day for watching birds in my backyard - resembled Grand Central
Station at rush hour, except it was all day.
An extended visit from a pileated woodpecker was the icing on the cake.
A carolina wren and white throated sparrow are regulars but it is
aways a delight to have them.
The resident flocks of goldfinches, juncos, and chickadees were joined
by a huge flock of starlings, robins and waxwings.
The usual mourning doves, blue jays, cardinals, house finches,
nuthatches (WB), titmice and woodpeckers (downy and hairy) spent the
day in the yard.
Pity it wasn't a counting day
