This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Thursday, July 12th,
2007.
2 LEAST BITTERNS were reported from the Hinsdale Setbacks, an area above the
dam in Hinsdale, on July 9th.
3 AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHERS were reported from the Isles of Shoals on July
8th, and an ATLANTIC PUFFIN and a RAZORBILL were seen a few days earlier.
Over 25 WILSON'S STORM-PETRELS were seen foraging along the coast in Rye on
July 9th.
A HORNED GREBE was seen in Rye just north of Ragged Neck on July 7th, and a
WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was seen near the same area on the 8th.
8 ROSEATE TERNS were reported from Hampton Harbor on July 8th, and 6 GREAT
EGRETS were reported from Hampton Harbor on the 7th.
Over 170 BONAPARTE'S GULLS were reported from the coast on July 7th.
A pair of PIPING PLOVERS is raising chicks at Hampton Beach State Park.

Shorebird migration has begun. 29 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 2 WHIMBRELS,
several YELLOWLEGS, and 6 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS were reported from Hampton
on July 10th.
5 NELSON'S and 8 SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS were seen at Chapman's
Landing in Stratham, and 6 SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS were seen in
Hampton Marsh behind Little Jack's Restaurant on Route 1A, all on July 7th.
A female SPRUCE GROUSE with a chick was reported from the White Mountain
National Forest trails on Trudeau Road in Bethlehem on July 10th.
A BICKNELL'S THRUSH, 2 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS, and 3 TURKEY VULTURES were
reported from the summit of Cannon Mountain in Franconia Notch on July 10th.
Several EVENING GROSBEAKS were reported visiting a feeder in Rumney on July
9th.
A TENNESSEE WARBLER was seen and heard in a bog on Hubbard Hill Road in
Stoddard on July 7th and 8th.
An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and 5 COMMON LOONS were reported from Willard Pond
in Antrim on July 10th.
Two family groups of RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS were reported from Durham
during the past week.
25 PIED-BILLED GREBES were reported from the Brentwood Mitigation Area on
July 11th. Also tallied were 23 GREAT BLUE HERONS, 2 GREEN HERONS, an ALDER
FLYCATCHER, 6 EASTERN KINGBIRDS, 30 GRAY CATBIRDS, 3 BROWN THRASHERS, 13
YELLOW WARBLERS, 2 PRAIRIE WARBLERS, 17 COMMON YELLOWTHROATS, 7 EASTERN
TOWHEES, 6 FIELD SPARROWS and 43 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS.
