Went looking for the "ruddy Duck" today, starting at Ledyard Bridge in Norwich. Saw several Common Mergansers, Wood Ducks and Mallards. Then went to Mink Brook in Hanover, N.H. Found Hooded Mergansers, mallards, maybe a black/mallard cross, and the mystery (Ruddy?) duck.  I suspect it is a female Black Scoter from my photos- wish I could ay otherwise...
