On Saturday October 1, 2016, the Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon is holding a bird walk led by Blake Allison and George Clark from 7:30 to 9:30 AM at the Bedell Bridge State Park in Haverhill, NH. This walk is free and open to the public. Bring binoculars and scopes if available. Participants should be prepared to walk up to a mile over uneven but level terrain. If unfortunately there should be steady rain, the event will be cancelled.

We'll be looking especially for raptors, sparrows, and other species found in the variety of riverine and agricultural habitats along the scenic Connecticut River in the vicinity of the historic Bedell Bridge site.

Road/Carpooling Instructions: From the Hanover/Lebanon area, follow Route 10 north to Haverhill, NH. Turn left onto Meadow Road and continue to the parking area at the end of the road by the Connecticut River at the Bedell Bridge State Historic Site. Please note that the walk is to begin at 7:30 AM at that parking area.

For participants from Hanover, Norwich, and surrounding towns, and especially towns to the south, carpoolers are to meet at 7;00 AM in the parking lot off River Road in Norwich by the Ledyard Bridge. To reach that parking lot from Hanover, cross the Ledyard Bridge into Norwich, take an immediate first right turn onto River Road, then an immediate left turn into the commuter parking lot. We’ll aim to return to that lot before 10:30 AM.
