This is the Vermont Rare Bird Alert for February 12, 2007 covering the
period February 5-11, 2007.

 

            Highlights this week include 2 GADWALLS in Button Bay on 2/11,
an immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK in Westminster on 2/11, a 3-TOED WOODPECKER
at Moose Bog, an EASTERN PHOEBE singing in Brattleboro on 2/9, a HERMIT
THRUSH along a trail near Button Bay on 2/11, a YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER at a
Woodstock feeder on 2/10 and a FOX SPARROW at a Huntington feeder on 2/6.

 

            Two HOODED MERGANSERS were seen in Button Bay on 2/11.

 

            A driving survey of raptors in Bridport, Addision and Panton
west of Rte. 22A on 2/7 included the following sightings:  25 RED-TAILED
HAWKS, 34 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 1 NORTHERN HARRIER and 1 SHARP-SHINNED HAWK.

 

            An ICELAND GULL was spotted off Grand Isle on 2/10.

 

            A RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER was seen in Cambridge on 2/10, a male
and female BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER were seen at Moose Bog this week and a
NORTHERN FLICKER was sighted in South Burlington on 2/6.

 

            The first reported sighting of a BOHEMIAN WAXWING this winter
occurred in Burlington on 2/4.
