This morning I was visiting my nephew who is renting on the northern part of Lake Fairlee. We were enjoying watching a pair of loons when a Great Egret appeared from the reeds. We watched it fish for 15 minutes until it was startled by a brigade of motorcycles driving by. I have lived on, visited, canoed, boated and swam in Lake Fairlee for 51 years and had never seen a Great Egret. My nephew’s son commented, Oh, it’s been there every summer we visit. He is 18. Um! 😶 Guess I better get off the farm more often.
