This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Wednesday, February 2nd, 
2011.



An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen in Exeter on January 25th, and again on 
the 28th.



A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen along Route 108 in Durham and Newmarket on 
January 27th.



A HOARY REDPOLL was seen with a flock of over 100 COMMON REDPOLLS on Diamond 
Ledge Road in Sandwich on February 2nd. A flock of 40 COMMON REDPOLLS was 
seen in Newport on January 31st, a flock of 50 was seen in Marlborough on 
the 30th, and a flock of 20 was seen in Peterborough on the 28th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen on Diamond Ledge Road in Sandwich on February 
1st, one was seen near Route 101 in Keene on January 30th, and one was seen 
in Surry on January 30th.



WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL sightings during the past week included 32 individual 
birds in 3 different flocks, all in Rye on January 29th.



BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS sightings during the past week included over 120 on the 
Plymouth State University campus on January 31st, 31 in Keene on the 30th, a 
small flock on Cottonwood Avenue in Laconia on the 30th, and 25 along Route 
4 in Northwood on the 29th.



A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on 
January 29th, and a GLAUCOUS GULL was seen in Seabrook in the parking area 
located just south of the Route 1A bridge on January 29th.



3 RAZORBILLS and 3 BLACK GUILLEMOTS were reported from coastal Rye on 
January 29th.



A male and a female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE were seen several times on the 
Merrimack River near the Waumbec Mill in Manchester during the past week. 
Also present on the Merrimack River in Manchester during the past week have 
been up to 7 GREAT CORMORANTS, 4 HOODED MERGANSERS, and several BALD EAGLES.



A BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, a PIED-BILLED GREBE, and an AMERICAN COOT were seen on 
the Connecticut River above the Vernon dam in Hinsdale on January 31st.



A NORTHERN SHOVELER was seen on South Mill Pond in Portsmouth on January 
29th.



A NORTHERN PINTAIL was seen at the Exeter Wastewater Treatment Plant, and 
one was seen at the Portsmouth Fish Pier, both on January 29th.



A COMMON LOON was seen on the Merrimack River in Hooksett on January 31st.



A flock of 12 SNOW BUNTINGS was seen on Sugar Hill Road in Hopkinton on 
January 31st, and a flock of 30 were seen from Krif Road in Keene on January 
30th.



An AMERICAN PIPIT, a LINCOLN'S SPARROW, several SNOW BUNTINGS, and 70 HORNED 
LARKS were seen at the Stuart Farm in Stratham on January 29th.



A flock of 150 HORNED LARKS was seen on River Road in Walpole on January 
29th.



2 MERLINS and 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS were reported from Nashua during the past 
week. A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Rumney on January 30th.



An EASTERN SCREECH-OWL was seen along Route 1A in Odiorne Point State Park 
in Rye on January 31st, and one was reported from the Rye Recreation Area on 
the 29th.



A NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL was seen along Love Lane in Rye, and one was 
reported from the Lubberland Creek Preserve in Newmarket, both on January 
29th.



A BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER was seen in Hampton Harbor on January 29th.



2 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS were seen at a bird feeder off of River Road in 
Stratham on January 29th.



A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen in East Kingston on January 30th, and 
one was seen in Exeter on the 29th.



There were several reports of EASTERN BLUEBIRDS, CAROLINA WRENS, and 
RED-BELLIED WOODPECKERS during the past week.



There was an unconfirmed report of a VARIED THRUSH in Hill on January 28th.
