This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, August 10th, 
2015.



An immature LITTLE GULL was reported from the Exeter Wastewater Treatment 
Plant on August 7th.



At least 2 pairs of MISSISSIPPI KITES have nested in Newmarket this year and 
there is currently at least 1 youngster. The KITES have been reported on 
multiple occasions from Piscasssic Street. The most recent reports were on 
August 5th and 8th.



3 SANDHILL CRANES were seen behind the cemetery on Plains Road in Monroe on 
August 5th, and 9th.



A LEAST BITTERN, a SORA and a VIRGINIA RAIL were seen at World End Pond in 
Salem on August 4th.



5 LEAST TERNS were seen in Philbrick Marsh in North Hampton on August 8th.



A female-type NORTHERN SHOVELER was seen in pools located on the west side 
of Route 1A just south of Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on August 6th and 
8th.



An UPLAND SANDPIPER was reported from fields located near the Community 
Gardens and Clinton Street in Concord on August 10th



2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS were seen at the Rochester Wastewater Treatment Plant 
on August 4th and 5th. The treatment plant is gated and the hours of 
operation are 7:30-3:00 on weekdays. If you visit, please check in at the 
office and be out of the plant by 2:45 so that plant personnel do not have 
to ask birders to leave. Do not drive on the dikes and do not block the 
road. The Trails at Pickering Ponds, located east of the plant, are not 
gated, and are always open during daylight hours.



5 GLOSSY IBIS were seen in coastal Rye on August 9th, and a flock of 15 was 
seen flying south along the coast on August 8th.



3 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen along the Nashua River in Nashua on 
August 10th.



A GREAT EGRET was seen at Powdermill Pond in Hancock on August 8th.



9 GREEN HERONS were seen in the small pond adjacent to the Steeplegate Mall 
in Concord on August 9th.



A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Alexandria on August 7th, 1 was reported from 
Hancock on the 5th, and 4 were seen in Nashua on August 10th



A NELSON’S SPARROW was seen off of Pollock Drive in Rye, and 2 were seen in 
Philbrick Marsh in North Hampton, both on August 9th.



A pair of EVENING GROSBEAKS was seen in Etna on August 5th, and 2 were seen 
in Freedom on the 4th.



2 BICKNELL’S THRUSHES and a BOREAL CHICKADEE were seen on the Caps Ridge 
Trail off of Jefferson Notch Road in the White Mountains on August 6th.



A RED CROSSBILL, 4 GRAY JAYS, 3 BOREAL CHICKADEES, and 3 OLIVE-SIDED 
FLYCATHERS were reported from Lake Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge on 
August 6th.



An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was reported from Fowler’s Mill Road in Tamworth 
on August 8th.



A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER and several BOREAL CHICKADEES were seen along East 
Inlet Road in Pittsburg on August 8th.



A YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from Ashland on August 5th.



A MOURNING WARBLER and a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO were seen in Etna on August 
6th.



A LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH and a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH were reported from 
Penacook on August 8th.



A colony of 13 pairs of PURPLE MARTINS is nesting along Cross Beach Road in 
Seabrook and 29 individuals were observed on August 8th.



118 CHIMNEY SWIFTS were seen entering a chimney to roost for the night at 
the Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, on August 6th.
