This is a reminder that the Mascoma Chapter of New Hampshire Audubon
has arranged programs on February 6 and 11, 2012. All programs are
free and open to the public. For additional information on Mascoma
Chapter programs, visit
http://www.mascomabirds.org

1) Monday February 6 at 7:00 PM at the Howe Library, Hanover, NH,
"Coastal Birds - Newfoundland to Florida", an illustrated presentation
by George Clark. From a region of icebergs in the north south to the
subtropical Everglades, coastal birdlife shows remarkable variety and
abundance which provide continuing challenges in conservation. This
introduction to coastal birds will feature gannets, herons, waterfowl,
waders, and other waterbirds in the wild as photographed by the speaker.

2) Saturday February 11, from 10:00 AM to noon, Eagle Watch at the
Wilder Dam in Wilder, VT, led by George Clark. (In case of adverse
weather or hazardous road conditions on Feb. 11, this event is to be
rescheduled from 10 AM to noon on Sunday February 12.) Participants
can come at any time during the two hours and stay as long as they
wish. Bring binoculars and scopes if available. Dress warmly.
Observations are to be made from the vicinity of the parking lot just
west of Wilder Dam so walking will be minimal. We unfortunately can't
guarantee that eagles will be present, but we're hopeful they'll be
there.

Road directions for the Eagle Watch: From Exit 12 off I-91 in Wilder,
turn east onto Bugbee Street and continue to the junction with Route
5. Turn left onto Route 5. Go north on Route 5, and take the fourth
right turn onto Depot Street. Follow Depot Street past the Post Office
on the left and shortly thereafter turn left onto Norwich Avenue.
Almost immediately, turn right to pass over the new bridge leading to
Passumpsic Avenue. Turn right onto Passumpsic Avenue and continue to
its southern end. There turn right into an unpaved parking area which
is to be the site for observation. If space for parking is not
available there, please park in one of the two nearby lots along the
west side of Passumpsic Avenue.
