This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, February 12th, 
2018.



A SANDHILL CRANE continues to be seen in Rollinsford, and was last reported 
from near Main Street on February 12th.



A SNOWY OWL was seen in the Hampton Harbor area, 1 was seen in coastal 
Seabrook, and 1 was seen near Rye Harbor State Park, all on February 10th. A 
possible fourth SNOWY OWL was reported from near Odiorne Point State Park in 
Rye on the 11th.



A SHORT-EARED OWL was seen at Philbrick Marsh in North Hampton on the 6th.



A BLACK VULTURE was seen in Exeter on February 6th, and 2 TURKEY VULTURES 
were seen in Exeter on the 9th.



A ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen at Woodmont Orchard in Hollis on February 6th.



At least 2 DOVEKIES, 9 THICK-BILLED MURRES, 4 BLACK GUILLEMOTS, and 15 
RAZORBILLS were seen along the coast on February 10th, and a DOVEKIE was 
seen on the coast in Hampton on the 11th.



A EURASIAN WIGEON was seen in Great Bay on February 6th.



A male BARROW’S GOLDENEYE continues to be seen at Stark Landing on the 
Merrimack River in Manchester, where it was last reported on February 10th. 
A female BARROW’S GOLDENEYE was reported here on the 5th, and a male 
BUFFLEHEAD was seen here on the 10th.



A female HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen at Seal Rocks in Rye on February 10th.



A RING-NECKED DUCK was seen in Laconia on February 8th, and a NORTHERN 
PINTAIL was seen on the Contoocook River in Hillsborough on the 12th.



A SNOW GOOSE was seen in coastal Rye on February 10th and 11th.



A RED-THROATED LOON was seen from Adams Point in Durham on February 7th, and 
1 was seen from Hilton Park in Dover on the 10th.



A GLAUCOUS GULL continues to be seen at Hampton Harbor and a BONAPARTE’S 
GULL continues to be seen in coastal Rye, both during the past week. A 
LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was reported from Hampton Harbor on February 11th.



A CHIPPING SPARROW was seen in Salem on February 11th. 3 FOX SPARROWS were 
seen in Webster, and single birds were seen in Brookline, Penacook, Glen, 
Warner, and Dover, all during the past week.



An EASTERN TOWHEE continues to be seen at a private residence in Wilton and 
was last reported on February 9th.



A flock of 20 SNOW BUNTINGS was seen at Krif Road in Keene on February 11th.



3 RED CROSSBILLS were reported from Lempster on February 10th, 3 were 
reported from Antrim on the 6th, 1 was reported from Bennington on the 10th, 
and 1 was reported from Cornish on the 9th.



A YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen in Sandwich, and 1 was seen in 
Rollinsford, both during the past week.



A RUSTY BLACKBIRD was seen in Freedom on February 6th, and a flock of about 
65 BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS was seen in Atkinson on the 7th.



A FISH CROW was reported from Salem on February 10th.



An AMERICAN KESTREL was seen at Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth 
on February 10th, and a PEREGRINE FALCON was seen in Bow on the 9th. A 
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was seen in North Hampton, and 1 was seen in Newton, and 
2 SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS were seen in Webster, all during the past week.



Owl courtship activities are beginning and there have been reports of 
vocalizing BARRED OWLS, GREAT HORNED OWLS, EASTERN SCREECH-OWLS, and 
NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWLS during the past week.
