I forgot to add that this happened in South Woodstock, VT. The house/feeders are fairly close to the General Store, but on a back road, down a long drive.
Thanks to the people who reached out with advice on telling the Common from Hoary. I guess the best character is the Hoary is its lack of streaking. Of the 100 or so birds I saw, there was so much variation in the coloration it was hard to pick out any one characteristic that was different.
