This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Thursday, October 18th, 
2007.



A SNOWY OWL was seen on Currier Hill Road in Gilmanton on October 15th, and 
one was reported from near Exit 31 on Route 93 near Woodstock on the 12th.



2 GOLDEN EAGLES were seen during the past week from the Pack Monadnock 
Raptor Migration Observatory in Peterborough. Over 10,000 raptors have now 
been recorded from the Observatory since September 1st!!! Be sure to visit 
the observatory to help out with the count.



3 WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were seen on the top of Pack Monadnock on October 
16th.



A WHITE-EYED VIREO and a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO were both seen at the north 
end of Odiorne Point State Park in Rye on October 14th.



A HARLEQUIN DUCK was seen on Rye Ledge on October 15th.



A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen at Frost Point at Odiorne Point State 
Park in Rye on October 13th.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was reported from Fowler Farm in Rochester on October 
17th.



20 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS were reported from the Pondicherry Wildlife Sanctuary 
in Jefferson on October 17th, and 10 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were seen here on the 
14th.



A NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW was seen from Chickering Road in 
Westmoreland on October 13th.



A LAPLAND LONGSPUR and 7 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS were reported from Moore Fields on 
Route 155A in Durham on October 14th.



2 SNOW BUNTINGS were reported from the top of Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey on 
October 17th.



A STILT SANDPIPER and 3 LESSER YELLOWLEGS were seen at the Exeter Wastewater 
Treatment Facility on October 14th.



An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was seen in Hampton Marsh on October 13th.



2 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, a WESTERN SANDPIPER, 7 WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, 400 
DUNLIN, 100 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 100 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, 9 SHORT-BILLED 
DOWITCHERS, 15 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, and a 235 BONAPARTE'S GULLS were all 
seen in Hampton Harbor and the surrounding marshes on October 12th.



6 RUDDY DUCKS were seen on Granite Lake in Munsonville on October 16th.



2 RED-NECKED GREBES and a RED-THROATED LOON were reported from the coast on 
October 15th, and 4 HORNED GREBES were reported on the 17th.



600 AMERICAN PIPITS were reported from fields in Westmoreland and Walpole on 
October 13th.



A flock of 65 AMERICAN PIPITS was seen in the fields adjacent to the NH 
Audubon McLane Center on Silk Farm Road in Concord on October 15th.



129 NORTHERN GANNETS were seen from Little Boar's Head in North Hampton on 
October 12th.



15,000 BLACKBIRDS including 2,000 COMMON GRACKLES were seen at the Hinsdale 
roosting area near the dam on the Connecticut River on October 13th.



There have been scattered sightings of PINE SISKINS from various locations 
around New Hampshire during the past week and their numbers seem to be on 
the rise.



Warbler migration is nearing an end, with primarily YELLOW-RUMPED and PALM 
WARBLERS remaining in any numbers.



Sparrow migration continues with good numbers still being seen of many 
species, including WHITE-CROWNED, WHITE-THROATED, SWAMP, SONG, and SAVANNAH 
being especially abundant.
