Todays /Burlington Free Press/ has a nice little article by Chris Rimmer
about the incursion of barred owls this winter.

As if to illustrate Chris' ideas, we observed one along Turnpike Road in
Norwich this afternoon ~5pm and grabbed a quick photo. It's rather poor
quality, due to a slow shutter speed and 1600 ISO, but does give a
feeling for how they keep their talons warm!
