Dear Birders:

Biologists and naturalists from across the Northeast (and beyond) are
invited to Montpelier, Vermont, on July 11 for a unique inventory of
every living organism we can can find. Birds and butterflies, ferns and
fungi, lichens and liverworts, zooplankton and zygoptera, everything is
fair game. The catch is that this survey lasts only 24 hours. It’s
called a BioBlitz. And this one will make history: the first-ever
BioBlitz of an entire state capital.

Montpelier is like no other capital. It offers wetlands, ponds, parks,
forests, fields, and three rivers. Its natural communities are well
mapped. BioBlitzers like you will eat well for free, get discounts on
lodging and camping, and meet colleagues and other biologists from
across the region. We’re also planning a lecture series and other
educational events across the city.

North Branch Nature Center is organizing this BioBlitz, which runs July
11-12, 2008, and concludes with a huge barbecue supper. Please save the
date and distribute this email. You can register now and learn more at:
