This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Tuesday, July 19th, 
2011.



A LONG-TAILED JAEGER, 7 GREAT SHEARWATERS, 10 SOOTY SHEARWATERS, 2 MANX 
SHEARWATERS, 200 WILSON'S STORM PETRELS, and 12 NORTHERN GANNETS were all 
tallied by birders on a whale watch cruise on July 17th. Also seen were 2 
SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 6 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 3 RUDDY TURNSTONES, and 2 
SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS.



A BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON was seen in Hancock on July 15th.



Nesting CLIFF SWALLOWS were reported from Fort Constitution in New Castle, 
and Great Elm Plaza in Plaistow during the past week.



24 migrating LEAST SANDPIPERS were reported from New Hampshire Audubon's 
Ponemah Bog sanctuary on July 19th.



COMMON NIGHTHAWKS are continuing to make nesting attempts, and at least 1 
nest was discovered in Concord during the past week, Please contact New 
Hampshire Audubon if you observe any COMMON NIGHTHAWK activity in your area 
between now and the end of July.



A SANDHILL CRANE has been present in a meadow located between McNiel and 
Union Hill Roads on Harbor Road in Fryeburg, Maine, close to New Hampshire, 
since July 9th.
