Dead geese and one dead heron at Lake Runnemede
The geese seemed to have been eating the corn Michael left out, first whole corn for two days, then he brought them some cracked corn this morning. He saw themon the logs, alive this morning. He also thought he saw the heron, upright, but has some trouble with his vision and couldn't be more specific. I was away all day sodidn't check on them. Yesterday I saw both geese were alive and standing on the logs. I never saw the heron. Thanks to Lila for her pictures posted on Flickr today. If anyone knows or has any idea why they died, please let us know. I wonder if they could have overeaten on the corn--but all of the birds dead? With blood comingout of the mouth of one? It is truly sad. If anyone knows or finds out the cause of their deaths, let us know and maybe we can learn something for future reference.
Thank you!
