This morning Ed Hack and I looked for birds at Lake Runnemede in
Windsor, VT. Highlights included Wood Ducks scattered around the lake,
a Double-crested Cormorant, a Great Blue Heron, a few Green Herons, an
Osprey, a Cooper's Hawk, a Merlin well seen both perched and flying, a
few Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, a singing Willow Flycatcher, numerous
"Traill's Flycatchers", at least 5 Eastern Kingbirds, a Carolina Wren,
numerous Gray Catbirds, a Yellow-rumped Warbler by the lake shore, 2
Bobolinks passing over, a Baltimore Oriole, and 2 Evening Grosbeaks.
The Evening Grosbeaks were heard and seen on southeastern side of the
lake in the vicinity where this species had been found earlier this
year.
