Subject: Pheasant
Dear
Margaret,
Thank you for your
email about the male pheasant. You're right they are beautiful
birds. We don't really know how many survive the hunting season or the
winter. I do received sporadic sightings of hens at bird feeders
in the winter and a few reports of hens with chicks in the spring. So a
few birds do survive and breed but not enough to sustain a breeding
population. Private residents also raise pheasant and release them
for enjoyment. I hope I answered your question. Please do not
hesitate to contact me if you have further questions.
